WHAT IS BIO-IDENTICAL HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (BHRT)

Bio identical hormones have a chemical structure that is IDENTICAL to the hormone produced in the body. The pure biologically identical hormone is either extracted from plants or synthetically manufactured. The end product is identical to the natural hormone in the body.

Bio Identical Hormone Replacement therapy is a safe and effective way to optimize hormones because the molecular compounds are similar to those that are naturally produced in your own body. Because of this, you can safely get back the benefits that normal hormone levels provide—like more energy, sleep, mental acuity, strength, libido, and more.

  • THE HORMONES
    • ESTROGEN
    • PROGESTERONE
    • DHEA
    • THYROID HORMONE
    • MEALTONIN

  • ESTROGENIn women, estrogen and progesterone are the primary female sex hormones. Multiple symptoms occur when there is imbalance in hormonal levels especially related to aging.
The three main estrogens are estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3). Estrogens are believed to be protective against heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and memory disorders. Estrogen helps women to regulate body temperature, maintain lustrous hair and nails, promote skin elasticity, increase libido, and improve memory and brain function. It also protects against vaginal atrophy, urinary incontinence, and prevents symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes and poor temperature regulation (e.g. “hot Flashes”).

  • PROGESTERONEProgesterone is primarily produced in the ovary just prior to and after ovulation. It is also produced in large quantities by the placenta during pregnancy and in small quantities by the adrenal glands. PROGESTERONE stands for pro-gestational the hormone of pregnancy.
When you are taking bio-identical estrogen, your medical provider will possibly put you on this hormone as well as it works to protect against breast cancers, uterine cancer, fibrocystic disease and ovarian cysts.
Unfortunately, most women are prescribed Provera, a synthetic horse derived progestin, which can cause side effects such as bloating, headaches, fatigue, weight gain, and heart disease. Bio-identical progesterone does NOT have these side effects.

THYROID HORMONE

More than any other hormone, the thyroid hormone is most responsible for improvement in energy and reducing fatigue.

Thyroid hormones are made by the thyroid gland located in the front of your neck. The thyroid gland makes and releases two thyroid hormones: thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid hormones affect every cell and all the organs of the body. Too much thyroid hormone speeds things up and too little thyroid hormone slows things down.

Thyroid Hormones:

Control the rate at which your body burns calories (your metabolism). This affects whether you gain or lose weight. Can slow down or speed up your heartbeat. Can raise or lower your body temperature. Change how fast food moves through your digestive tract. Affect muscle strength. Control how quickly your body replaces dying cells.

Symptoms of low thyroid function

Symptoms may be vague and can often mimic other conditions, they may include:

Changes in the menstrual cycle, Constipation, Depression
Dry hair and hair loss, Dry skin
Fatigue, Greater sensitivity to cold
Slow heart rate, Swelling of the thyroid gland (goiter)
Unexplained weight gain, Difficulty losing weight

Proper testing is required to evaluate your thyroid hormone levels. Generally we check something called the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which is secreted by the pituitary gland. Its level unfortunately does not give a full picture of the thyroid function. Even the interpretation of this test is mostly flawed. Unfortunately, this leaves millions suffering unnecessarily. Other tests, including free T3 and free T4 and thyroid antibodies are critical. New Creation Health & Wellness includes thyroid hormone evaluation in your initial work up and reassess it if needed.

MELATONIN

Melatonin is a natural hormone made by your body’s pineal gland. This is a pea-sized gland located just above the middle of the brain. Melatonin plays a role in your natural sleep-wake cycle. Natural levels of melatonin in the blood are highest at night. Daytime levels of melatonin are barely detectable. The hormone melatonin produces a number of health benefits in terms of immune system. It’s a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger that helps combat inflammation. Melatonin deficiency results in poor sleep, jet lag, irritability, hypersensitivity and premature aging.

Restoring hormonal balance has many positive health benefits as well as helping to control symptoms of menopause. Most doctors treat patients with synthetic drugs that have been known to have harsh and unpleasant side effects. In our clinics we perform thorough laboratory testing to specifically identify those hormones that need supplementation or proper regulation. We only prescribe bioidentical hormones that are produced to exacting standards by qualified professional pharmacies. These products are designed to mirror the hormones produced by the body.
